Currents & attunement
A creature’s native Current record is separate from its trainable aptitudes.
The Fens currently recognizes 31 named Currents. A Fenborn can carry one or more native Current assignments, and those assignments are stored on the individual creature record.
Native attunement
When an individual creature is created, its native Current assignments are copied from its species template onto the creature record. Current checks read that individual record.
Ordinary creature aptitude training does not rank up or replace native attunement. A creature can train Wayfinding, Surveying or another aptitude while keeping the same native Currents.
Current assistance outside battle
Some activities check whether a participating creature’s native Current matches a requested capability: traverse, sense, stabilize, transform, sustain, hazard, conceal or anomaly.
The activity specifies whether a Current match applies and what it changes. A matching Current has no automatic effect on unrelated activities.
Currents in sanctioned battle
Battle skills can carry Current elements. When a skill Current matches one of the acting creature’s own Currents, the current sanctioned rules apply a 1.05× native-attunement modifier.
The skill Current is also compared with the target creature’s Currents. A listed favorable relation is 1.15× and a listed reduced relation is 0.85×. If the same action finds both favorable and reduced matches, the interaction portion resolves neutral.
