Species description
Ashrunner are long-legged fenborn with wide splayed toes and closable nostrils adapted for loose ash. They travel in small bands, sprinting between cooler stone islands while feeding on insects and heat-tolerant scrub.
Field note
Their tracks break wind crusts and expose buried seed after ashfall. Off-road racing routes can look harmless on barren flats while repeatedly cutting through the exact corridors bands use between water and shade.
